Alicia María Vallejo, Antropóloga de profesión ha encontrado en el arte y la pintura una forma de comunión con su entorno, con su tiempo y con su propia experiencia. Su pintura invita a recrear el espíritu por medio de obras en las cuales el color, el sabor y el sonido adquieren armonía propia.
La obra de Alicia María Vallejo ofrece trazos vivos y limpios con una paleta de color vibrante y alegre y de arriesgadas composiciones con matices contemporáneos, donde se ve claramente la influencia neocubista y del nuevo pop art.
En su trabajo encontramos variedad de temas como la serie sobre las negritudes de las costas Colombianas, en donde la exhuberancia de los cuerpos humanos, de los frutos tropicales como el chontaduro, la sandía, los peces, quedan contenidos en los lienzos, también nos ofrece sus Apropiaciones de bellas y muy conocidas obras del pasado, recreándolas, no sólo desde el manejo técnico de los temas sino, y en esto consiste lo novedoso, desde una cierta, traducción. Lo esencial, lo que no puede dejar de ser lo que es, es visto en otro idioma, en otra textura, en otro clima.
Por medio de sus cuadros la artista refleja y manifiesta su visión optimista e invita a la celebración de las cosas simples y bellas de la vida.

Alicia María Vallejo, Professional Anthropologist, has found in art and painting a form of communion with the environment, the time and her own experience. Her painting fosters the spirit renewal through works in which color, taste and sound acquire own harmony.

Alicia Maria’s work offers vivid and clean lines with a vibrant and cheerful colors, and daring compositions with contemporary touches in which it is easy to note the influence of Neo Cubism and Pop Art.

In her paintings we can find a variety of themes such as the negro influence of the Colombian coasts. The canvases display the exuberance of the human body,   tropical fruits like the “chontaduro” and the watermelon, and fish. She also offers us appropriations of beautiful and well known works of art from the past. They have been recreated, not only from the technique perspective and the overall approach of the themes, but also involve a translation, which is really what makes it innovative. The essence, or what can’t be changed no matter what, can be appreciated in a different language, in a different texture, and in a different environment.

Through these paintings, the artist permeates her optimistic vision and invites for a celebration of the simple and beautiful things of life.
